The AFS Curriculum

Every AFS session sits within a structured, age-banded pathway — not a generic kickabout. Here's what your child will actually learn, stage by stage.

Ages 46

Foundations

Fun-first sessions built around coordination, balance, and confidence with the ball. Games-based learning that keeps every child moving and smiling.

Ages 79

Development

Core technique — first touch, passing, dribbling — introduced alongside teamwork and communication as small-sided games become more structured.

Ages 1012

Performance

Game intelligence and positional play. Children start reading the game, understanding shape, and applying technique under real pressure.

What a typical session looks like

Warm-up and ball familiarisation, a technical block matched to the age band's focus, small-sided games to apply the skill, and a cool-down. Coaches decide how children are grouped and where they play within each session on the day.

How progress is tracked

Coaches track development against the age band's focus areas each term, with milestones recognised through the rewards programme — badges and shout-outs that celebrate effort and improvement, not just ability.
